Cookie
Policy

One optional thing runs here, and only if you allow it. Below is every single item this site stores on your device — what it does, how long it lasts, and how to turn it off.

Everything We Store.

Six entries, and only the first two are cookies in the strict sense. Items marked needs consent do not exist on your device unless you allow them.

1. The Short Version

One optional thing runs on this site: Google Analytics. It does not load unless you say yes, and nothing about your visit reaches Google until you do. Everything else we store is a preference that lives in your own browser — your theme, and which articles you have already reacted to — which never leaves your device and is not used to identify you.

2. What a Cookie Actually Is Here

Two different technologies are covered by this page. Cookies are small files sent back to a server with each request; the only ones on this site belong to Google Analytics. Local storage stays in your browser and is never transmitted anywhere — that is where every PerfectCars preference lives. The law treats both the same way, which is why both are listed above, but the practical difference matters: nothing in local storage here is ever sent to us or to anyone else.

3. Analytics, and Why We Ask

Google Analytics 4 tells us which cars and articles get read, so we know what to write more of. It is the one thing on this site that shares anything with a third party: your IP address, the pages you open and an approximate location go to Google, which processes them on servers that include the United States. That transfer is the reason for the banner. If you decline, the Google script is never requested at all — this is not a case of loading it and asking it to behave; the network request does not happen.

4. Measurement That Needs No Consent

We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure loading speed. They set no cookies, store nothing in your browser and build no profile of you, so there is nothing to consent to and they are not covered by the banner. They run whatever you choose above.

5. Other Companies We Load Files From

Fonts are served by Google Fonts and images from our own Supabase storage. Both receive your IP address as a technical necessity of sending you the file, the same way any website you visit does. Neither sets a cookie and neither is used to track you across sites.

6. Changing Your Mind

Use the panel at the top of this page at any time. Withdrawing is one click, exactly like granting — and when you withdraw, the Google Analytics cookies already on your device are deleted immediately rather than left to expire. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets everything including your theme preference.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we ever add something that stores data on your device, it goes in the table above and the banner asks again from scratch — an old yes is not reused to cover a new purpose. This page shows what the site does today.

This page covers storage on your device. For what happens to data you send us — newsletter sign-ups and contact messages — see the Privacy Policy, or contact us with a question.
